On December 11, 2019, during ongoing search operations for the missing Lockheed C-130 Hercules of the Chilean Air Force, the 'Antarctic Endeavour' trawler came across foam debris floating in the Southern Ocean. This foam is believed to potentially originate from the aircraft, which vanished on December 9, carrying 38 individuals on board. The fragments may be associated with the area surrounding the wing tanks of the Hercules. Following the loss of contact, a comprehensive search and rescue operation was launched, deploying numerous ships, satellites, and coordinating efforts with 13 aircraft. The recovered debris was located approximately 30 kilometers south of the Hercules's last known position. Once secured, the 'Antarctic Endeavour' transported the findings back to Punta Arenas for further investigation.
