On the evening of May 19, 2016, the barge 'Antonie', weighing 2,060 tons (EU-No.: 2318724), became stranded along the shore of Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg. The crew had secured the vessel for the night without consideration for the tide and water depth, leading to a situation where the bow rested on stones at the Vering Canal barrier while the vessel listed to port. The alert crew summoned the water police, who arrived only to find that no immediate action could be taken other than to wait for the tide to rise. Fortunately, the rising tide eventually lifted the 'Antonie' off the shore without causing any damage, eliminating the need for fire rescue services to intervene. By May 20, the vessel was able to resume its journey towards Ostermoor port in Brunsbüttel.
