Working Conditions Aboard the Apl-California

In the early hours of September 16, 2017, at precisely 3 a.m., the container vessel APL California found itself in a precarious situation at the port of Koper. Strong winds reaching speeds of 25 meters per second caused the ship to lose its moorings in Basin 1. The ship's aft moorings gave way, while the fore lines remained intact, resulting in the vessel's stern swinging around and colliding with a nearby docked ship, as well as a Neptun tugboat. Fortunately, two tugs were dispatched and successfully brought the APL California back alongside the quay, securing its stern lines to mooring buoys. The tug Mercur (IMO: 9801823) provided additional support to keep the container ship steady at the dock.
