APL Charleston Runs Aground Near Hazira Port

On March 26, 2018, the APL Charleston encountered an incident shortly after its departure from Hazira, Surat, in West India, at approximately 11 a.m. The container ship ran aground and required assistance from tugs to refloat, successfully freeing itself about 2.5 hours later. Following the refloating, the APL Charleston was anchored for inspections at Hazira Anchorage, maintaining its position at coordinates N 21° 1.66' E 072° 35.40'. The vessel was initially en route to Mundra and subsequently departed from Magdalla Anchorage on March 28.
