APL New Jersey Comes to the Aid of Migrant Boat in Alboran Sea

On November 1, 2023, a Frontex-operated aircraft from the Guardia Civil detected a migrant boat navigating the Alboran Sea. Responding promptly, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) of Salvamento Marítimo in Almería reached out to vessels in the vicinity, redirecting the container ship 'APL New Jersey', which was on its way from Mobile. The 'APL New Jersey' provided crucial assistance by escorting the distressed migrant vessel until the Search and Rescue (SAR) ship 'Salvamar Gienah' arrived on scene. Thanks to these coordinated efforts, all 17 individuals aboard the migrant boat were successfully rescued and transported to Motril.
