The Aramis: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On September 28, 2019, the freighter 'Aramis' experienced a significant incident on the Rhône River, colliding with two separate bridges. Initially, the vessel made contact with a road bridge, followed swiftly by a collision with a railway bridge. The impacts caused considerable damage to various parts of the ship, including the superstructure and foreship; however, the vessel remained afloat. The master of the 'Aramis' sustained injuries from shattered glass and received medical attention following the event. After the collisions, the freighter was towed to a nearby quay in Lyon where necessary repairs were slated to commence. In the aftermath, an investigation was launched by the French Maritime Accident Investigation Board, while the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice was also notified about the situation. Fortunately, there were no reported infrastructure damages, pollution incidents, or severe injuries among the crew. The vessel's crew, consisting of six members, stayed on board as their contracts had not yet reached completion. Moreover, their contracts were later adjusted. The last recorded AIS data of the 'Aramis' was captured on September 27, 2019, indicating its approach to Fos-sur-Mer. Following completion of repairs in Bejaia, the freighter successfully resumed its operations, arriving at Terminal Catalunya - Moll Princep d'Espanya in Barcelona on January 7, 2020, at 8:50 a.m. to commence cargo operations.
