Tugboat 'Arctic' Faces Propeller Snag While Towing Barge 'Ark-12'
On September 17, 2018, at 07:40 a.m., the tugboat 'Arctic' encountered a critical situation while towing the barge 'Ark-12' along the Volga-Caspian Ship Canal, approximately 76 kilometers from Olya Roadstead. The vessel's propeller steering gear complex became entangled in the towline, prompting immediate action. By 08:25 a.m., the 'Arctic' had anchored to address the issue and clear the fouled propeller. After a diligent effort, the towing wire was successfully removed by 10:30 p.m., allowing the tug and its barge to reconnect and continue their journey towards their intended destination.
