Arklow Valor Grounding Incident near Drogheda
On December 13, 2018, the cargo vessel "Arklow Valor" encountered a mishap, sustaining damage to its port side after grounding while departing the port of Drogheda. The situation was promptly addressed with the assistance of the tug "Masterman," based in Belfast, which successfully refloated the vessel on December 14 at approximately 4 p.m. Following the refloating, the Arklow Valor set course for Dublin; however, adverse weather conditions, specifically high winds and significant swell from Storm Deirdre, delayed its entry into the port until December 16. After navigating the challenging waters, the ship finally docked at the Dublin General Cargo I terminal at 2:15 p.m. It remained in Dublin until December 24 when it resumed its voyage, heading towards Swansea. The vessel arrived at Swansea Shiprepair at 7:40 a.m. on December 25 for necessary repairs. Odense Canal Incident: Arklow Valour Runs Aground
On November 21, 2017, the modern vessel 'Arklow Valour' experienced a grounding incident in the Odense Canal at approximately 4:15 a.m., effectively halting traffic in the waterway. Having just arrived from Rotterdam to load a sand cargo, the newly launched ship became stuck at Odins Bridge, embedding itself in a sandy bottom. Its position was such that it lay across the fairway, obstructing all maritime movement. After several hours of efforts, the ship was successfully refloated by 10:45 a.m. and was able to dock in Odense by 11 a.m. Following this, the 'Arklow Valour' made its way to the Severnaya Verf Shipyard in St. Petersburg, where it arrived at 4:30 p.m. on November 26. After undergoing repairs, the ship departed the yard on November 28 at 5:30 p.m., setting course for Sevilla, with an estimated time of arrival on December 8.
