On November 7, 2025, the cargo ship 'Arshan' was detained in the port of Karasu due to a staggering 19 reported deficiencies. Among the critical issues noted were compliance failures related to essential documents such as the International Sewage Pollution Prevention Certificate and SOPEP, both deemed not as required. The vessel's safety equipment documentation was also found lacking, alongside discrepancies in the minimum safe manning requirements. Structural concerns were prominent, with cracks and corrosion detected on the decks and hull, alongside inadequate conditions in ballast and fuel tanks. Further, navigation aids were compromised as several nautical publications had expired. Emergency systems onboard the 'Arshan' revealed alarming shortcomings, including an inoperative emergency fire pump and failure to conduct necessary enclosed space entry and rescue drills. Due to the technical setback, the Harbour Master revoked the vessel's departure authorization until necessary repairs were completed. Following a thorough inspection by state surveyors, the 'Arshan' was cleared to depart Nemrut Bay on December 11 at 7:30 a.m., setting course for Tuzla with an expected arrival time of December 13 at 9 a.m.
