Maritime Incident in Marmara Sea Involves Cargo Ships
On August 14, 2011, a maritime accident occurred in the Marmara Sea as the Turkish vessel 'Parmis' collided with the Malta-registered cargo ship 'Apache' near the northern coast of Marmara Island. Prompt response teams dispatched a rescue ship to the scene of the incident. Fortunately, both ships escaped with minimal damage and were able to navigate towards a port in the northwestern Tekirdag province. The 'Parmis' was en route to Gemlik in Bursa, Turkey, having departed from Egypt, while the 'Apache' was making its way from Italy to Russia.
