Working Conditions Aboard the Asahimaru

In a notable maritime incident, the bulk carrier 'Asahi Maru' encountered a fishing boat on February 23, 2021, around midday near the coast of Chiba Prefecture, located in northeast Honshu. The collision resulted in significant damage to the bow of the fishing vessel, which, despite the impact, managed to navigate back to port using its own power. Unfortunately, six individuals aboard the fishing boat, including four anglers, sustained injuries during the encounter. The 'Asahi Maru,' which was on a route from Chiba to Kushiro, had to halt its journey and redirect to Kashima, where it safely docked later that same day.
