On the evening of September 21, 2024, the cargo vessel KM 'Asia Glory 6' ran aground off the Benteng Asakota coast in the Soromandi District of Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) at approximately 7:20 PM WITA. The incident prompted a swift response from the Bima Police Polairud team, who arrived at the grounding site following reports from local residents. The 'Asia Glory 6' had set sail from Dili, NTT on September 20 without any cargo and was headed to Bima Port. As the vessel neared Bima Bay, a fishing boat unexpectedly approached from the port side. In an effort to avoid a collision, the 'Asia Glory 6' sharply turned to starboard, which resulted in the ship grounding near the historical Asakota fort at coordinates 04' 52.8 “S 119° 05” 09.5 ’E, roughly 30 nautical miles away from Bima Harbour.
