China VLCC Secures New Addition to Fleet with Acquisition of 297,000dwt Tanker
Shanghai: In a significant move within the maritime industry, China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) revealed that its joint venture with Sinotrans & CSC, known as China VLCC, has finalized an agreement to acquire the 297,000dwt Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) named Yangtze Rhyme from Aldebaran Shipping for a sum of $60.3 million. Previously managed by the struggling oil division of Sinotrans & CSC, Nanjing Tanker, the vessel has been officially renamed New Talent as it joins the China VLCC fleet. This acquisition marks a vital step for China VLCC, which was established in September this year as part of the government's initiative to ensure the stability of the national oil supply chain.
