Morning Collision on the Don River Involves M/V Volgo-Don 225 and Astrol-5
In a notable maritime incident on September 19, 2023, the cargo vessel M/V 'Volgo-Don 225' (IMO: 8954958) collided with the 'Astrol-5' along the Don River in the Rostov region. The incident occurred at kilometer mark 2998, situated in the Sukhoi-Donetsk riffle. Both vessels sustained damage to their port sides; however, fortunately, there were no reported injuries or oil spills as a result of the collision. In response to the incident, the Rostov Transport Investigation Department has initiated a pre-investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
