On January 3, 2019, the cargo vessel 'Atlantic Peach', while making its way to Khoms with a total of 14 crew members onboard, encountered trouble and ran aground at the breakwater of Tripoli sea port. The ship was loaded with 150 containers at the time of the incident. Due to deteriorating weather conditions, the captain ordered an evacuation of the crew, who were successfully rescued and taken into the care of the Tripoli port authority. On September 27, 2018, at 10 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Atlantic Peach' encountered an engine malfunction while navigating from Yalova to Port Said, causing it to drift dangerously close to the shoreline off Karabiga in the Marmara Sea. A coastal safety tug was quickly dispatched to the scene, alongside a skilled technical team, to manage the situation and safeguard both the vessel and the surrounding marine traffic. By September 28 at 5 a.m., the 'Atlantic Peach' successfully dropped anchor under the guidance of the coastal safety tug at Cape Karabiga anchorage. As a precautionary measure, the vessel’s permission to depart was suspended until the crew completes necessary permanent repairs. As of September 29, the 'Atlantic Peach' remained securely anchored at coordinates 40° 29.18' N, 027° 16.67' E.
