Working Conditions Aboard the Atlantic-Pioneer

On the evening of December 11, 2019, the 'Atlantic Pioneer' experienced a significant explosion in its engine room while situated off the coast of Hoek van Holland. Emergency services rapidly responded, deploying multiple units to Berghaven in Hoek van Holland, with assistance from Port Service vessels and the KNRM. The local fire brigade was the first to reach the scene, promptly sending a KNRM lifeboat for a preliminary assessment onboard. Fortunately, no fire was detected following the incident. It appears that a pipe within the engine room may have ruptured, leading to the explosion. The tanker was subsequently escorted to Rozenburg, where it was safely berthed at 9:20 PM at the Northsea Way for further investigation. Remarkably, there were no injuries reported among crew members or responders.
