On the evening of June 4, a severe incident unfolded as the tugboat 'Baikal' capsized in the icy waters of Yenisei Bay, located in the Krasnoyarsk region of the Kara Sea. The vessel succumbed to immense ice pressure around 8 p.m. local time. Fortunately, eight crew members were swiftly rescued by the icebreaker 'Vladivostok', but one individual remains unaccounted for. On March 2, 2023, the icebreaker 'Pluton' encountered a significant setback when its main engine failed in the Barents Sea, near coordinates 75 23 24 N, 56 07 12 E, off Severny Island. The extent of the power plant damage was critical, necessitating repairs that could not be conducted at sea. To assist with the situation, the salvage vessel 'Spasatel Karev' was dispatched, and together with another icebreaker, it successfully towed the disabled 'Pluton' through the treacherous ice. After a challenging journey, both vessels reached the mouth of the Northern Dvina River on March 12, and by the night of March 13, they had safely docked at the port of Arkhangelsk.
