On March 10, 2020, the U.S. Coast Guard successfully carried out a medical evacuation for the captain of the cargo ship 'Balsa 84' about 25 miles offshore from Ocean City, Maryland. The vessel, which was en route from Veracruz to Fairless Hills, reached out to the Coast Guard Delaware Bay's command center at approximately 10:20 a.m., reporting that the 61-year-old Filipino captain was showing signs of a potential heart attack and required urgent medical help. In response, watchstanders promptly dispatched an aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter. Upon arrival at the scene, the aircrew hoisted the captain into the helicopter and transported him to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury for urgent care.
