What Crew Members Say About Baltic-Bright

On June 5, 2017, the cargo vessel 'Baltic Bright', arriving from Ijmuiden, became the center of an oil spill incident at the port of Rauma. During a bunkering operation, several cubic meters of fuel oil spilled due to an overflow from one of the tanks, a mishap attributed to potential human error. In response to the incident, local rescue services quickly deployed containment booms around the vessel, successfully recovering approximately 45 cubic meters of oil-contaminated water. A secondary boom was established later in the evening to further secure the area, with ongoing monitoring throughout the night. It is anticipated that the containment measures will be lifted on the morning of June 6, following assessment of the situation.
