The Bartok: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On December 1, 2025, the cargo vessel 'Bartok' faced detention in Immingham after inspectors identified a total of 19 deficiencies on board. Notably, four of these deficiencies were classified as serious and warranted the detention. The key issues included: 1) Life-saving Appliances – The launching arrangements for the rescue boats were not properly maintained. 2) Life-saving Appliances – The embarkation arrangements for the survival craft were also found to be inadequately maintained. 3) Fire Safety – There was a lack of familiarity regarding crew performance evaluation in fire safety protocols. 4) ISM Compliance – The vessel's ISM certificate did not meet the required standards. Fortunately, the 'Bartok' was released from detention on December 5 and subsequently set sail for Rotterdam, with an expected arrival date of December 6.

In the early hours of January 18, 2022, the cargo vessel 'Bartok' encountered an incident as it arrived in the bustling Port of Antwerp from Le Havre at approximately 3:30 a.m. The ship tragically allided with a jetty, resulting in significant damage that necessitated immediate emergency repair efforts. Following the mishap, the 'Bartok' was safely berthed at Delwaide Dock, located within the Mexico Natie Logistics area, to address the damages and ensure the vessel's seaworthiness for future voyages.

On August 28, 2020, at approximately 2:00 PM, the cargo vessel 'Bartok' encountered rudder difficulties while navigating towards Antwerp from Le Havre. The ship was forced to drop anchor off Kallo as a precautionary measure. By 2:15 PM, the rudder was back in operation; however, the pilot opted to request assistance from a larger lock and tugboat. Plans were made for the 'Bartok' to enter the Zandvliet Lock in Antwerp between 4:30 PM and 6:15 PM, with the tugboat 'Union Panda' on standby to assist. The vessel successfully berthed in Antwerp later that afternoon. After completing its docking, the 'Bartok' set sail again on August 29 at 10:10 PM, en route to Rotterdam, where it arrived on August 30 at 8:45 AM.

On January 23, 2019, marine police officials in Brunsbüttel conducted a thorough inspection of the tanker 'Bartok' to ensure compliance with MARPOL regulations at the oil port. The inspection took place between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. after the vessel had unloaded calcium nitrate solution in Hamburg and was set to pick up a new cargo at Brunsbüttel-Ostermoor. Following its departure from Hamburg, the tanker proceeded into the German Bight, where it washed its cargo tanks and inadvertently discharged washing water contaminated with a residual 177 liters of the cargo into the North Sea. After a detailed investigation, the Hamburg Public Prosecutor's Office decided to discontinue criminal proceedings and instead initiated an administrative offense procedure. Consequently, the vessel had to pay a security deposit of approximately 500 Euros. The 'Bartok' departed the oil port in Brunsbüttel on January 24, heading to Rotterdam after taking on its new cargo at 2:30 p.m.
