On March 12, 2020, a notable maritime incident occurred in the Buzios oil field, situated in the Santos Basin, approximately 200 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The vessel 'Batuira' collided with the Floating Production Storage and Offloading unit (FPSO) known as 'Petrobras 77'. The collision caused substantial damage to the port side foreship of 'Batuira,' dislodging the gangway that links the Maintenance and Safety Unit (UMS) to the FPSO. Despite the severity of the incident, the 'Batuira' managed to navigate back to Ponta Dareia, Rio de Janeiro, under its own propulsion, arriving on March 14 at 1:40 a.m. Following its arrival, the vessel was docked at Estaleiro Mauá S/A in Ponta d'Areia for necessary repairs on March 27 at 11:30 p.m. Meanwhile, FPSO 'Petrobras 77' continued its operations without interruption, functioning at a water depth of 1,980 meters and maintaining its production capabilities.
