On April 1, at precisely 12:56 p.m., the US Coast Guard confirmed the reopening of the Calcasieu Ship Channel after a thorough assessment of a condensate oil and natural gas pipeline revealed no hazards for deep draft vessels navigating the waterway. Sonar inspections showed that the area surrounding the incident site was free from any dangerous protrusions above the soil line. The Coast Guard reported that the natural gas leak from the pipeline has been effectively halted. To ensure safety, divers contracted by Stingray-Enbridge worked tirelessly to manually close the subsea tie-in valve. Over the next few days, this dive team will return to the channel to evaluate the extent of the pipeline damage and carry out necessary repairs. Collaboration between the Coast Guard and the Lake Charles Pilot Association will facilitate the repair operations with Stingray-Enbridge.
