Early on January 16, 2019, at 2:35 a.m., the vessel 'BBC Livorno' encountered significant engine exhaust issues while navigating the North Sea, specifically at coordinates 49 44 21.6 N, 004 17 42 W. The crew promptly initiated cooling procedures necessary for engine repair. After approximately 90 minutes of diligent work, the repairs were successfully completed, allowing the ship to resume its intended passage. The BBC Livorno's journey takes it from Newport, UK, to Antwerp, with an estimated time of arrival set for January 17 at 4 p.m.

The maritime vessel 'Flinter Trader', which had been moored in Fos-sur-Mer since October 27, 2016, was released from its seizure on November 14. The Philippine seafarers' agency, acting on behalf of ten sailors—six of whom remain on board while four recently disembarked—successfully received the outstanding payments. Although seven Russian crew members confirmed their wages were paid in October, the Filipino seafarers had not yet received their due compensation, leading to uncertainty about the ship's departure. Reports indicated that food supplies were dwindling and the engine was in need of critical spare parts. Concerns grew that the crew might be reassigned to the 'Flintermar' or 'Flinterduin', two other cargo vessels belonging to the Dutch company Flinter, which are currently idling off Gibraltar. While several other ships have successfully traveled back to the Netherlands, including the 'Flinter Aland', 'Flinter Arctic', 'Flinter America', and 'Flinter Rose', others like the 'Flinter Atlantic' in Constanza and the 'Flinterdijk' in Bayonne have remained stranded since October 21. The financial troubles of the Flinter group resulted in the layoff of 65 shore-based employees and 54 sailors. On November 9, the district court in Rotterdam officially recorded the bankruptcy of the Flinter group.

Flinter has announced the successful delivery of its latest vessels, Flinter Trader and Flinter Tide, following a series of extensive negotiations with Dongfang shipyard in Wenzhou, China. Although both ships were completed several months ago, they awaited final delivery until all parties reached a resolution on remaining issues in June. According to HLPFI, Flinter Tide is currently en route to Shanghai for additional enhancements. Simultaneously, Flinter Trader is set to load cargo in Nanjing, China, destined for Angola, with further work planned during the loading operation.
