Working Conditions Aboard the Beijing-Bridge

On March 11, 2011, a distress call was received from the ‘Vancouver Bridge’ as it faced an onslaught from pirates. The Indian Navy's Dornier aircraft located the hijacked Mozambican fishing vessel ‘Vega 5’. Upon noticing the approaching aircraft, the pirates abandoned their assault, allowing ‘Vega 5’ to make an escape attempt. However, the Indian military maintained surveillance on the vessel while two Indian naval assets, the corvette ‘Khukri’ and fast attack craft ‘Kalpeni’, were dispatched to seize control of the ‘Vega 5’. The operation culminated in the successful capture of the ship the following day, showcasing the effectiveness of India's anti-piracy measures.
