The Blue-Sapphire: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On December 5, 2025, the Rhodes Port Authority received an alert concerning the cruise ship 'Blue Sapphire', which was navigating from Rhodes to a secure anchorage with 49 crew members on board but no passengers. Due to severe weather conditions, the vessel became detached from the tugboat providing assistance. In response, the tugboats 'Kaptain Dimitrios' (IMO: 9825348) and 'Minotavros A' (IMO: 8814873) were dispatched to facilitate a safe passage. Fortunately, the 'Blue Sapphire' managed to reach the anchorage at Ialyssos Bay, where it stayed until the weather improved. The Central Port Authority of Rhodes is currently conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident. On December 7, the 'Blue Sapphire' made its way back to the port of Rhodes, where it remained stationary as of December 10. Saga Cruises has finalized the transfer of its cruise ship, the 'Saga Sapphire', to Anex Tour, a prominent family-oriented tour operator based in Turkey. Following the sale, the vessel has been given a new identity as 'Blue Sapphire' and is set to embark on a fresh journey with Anex Tour's newly established cruise line, targeted for 2021. This significant acquisition was first revealed by Anex Tour in August 2019. The ship is currently undergoing extensive renovations to prepare for its upcoming voyages across the picturesque eastern Mediterranean waters.
