A medical emergency unfolded at New Mangalore Port when the chief cook of the Vietnamese ship 'Bohwa Amo' experienced a heart attack while the vessel was docked. The cargo ship, which had arrived on August 13, 2024, was transporting a hefty 7,141.8 tonnes of raw cashew nuts for Bolas Agro Private Ltd. On August 16, the ship's captain informed ETA Shipping and Logistics about the chef's alarming chest pains. Swift action followed, with arrangements made for the cook's immediate transfer to Athena Hospital, where he was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for close monitoring. By August 19, his condition improved, prompting a transfer to Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Hospital. Currently, the patient's health status has stabilized, and he is expected to be discharged by August 23, after which he plans to return to his home country of Vietnam.
