Working Conditions Aboard the Bohwa-Pioneer

On March 14, 2025, the 'Bohwa Pioneer', recognized as the largest freighter to be serviced by Strela Shiprepair, entered drydock at the Volkswerft Maritime Industrial and Business Park in Stralsund. This repair was necessitated after the vessel sustained significant damage to its rudder system. The ship, which departed from Uddevalla on March 12, is undergoing comprehensive repairs where technicians will dismantle the rudder blade and rudder stock. Additionally, the rudder bearings are set to be thoroughly inspected, and the entire steering gear will undergo rigorous evaluation and necessary repairs. To fully assess potential impacts, the propeller and tail shaft will also be removed, allowing for a detailed examination of the extent of the damage sustained.
