Bremen Hunter's Engine Failure Leads to Towage Rescue Operation in Skagerrak
On December 23, 2023, the vessel 'Bremen Hunter' encountered a significant engine failure while navigating the Skagerrak. In response to the situation, the tug 'Ems,' also under the ownership of Unterweserreederei GmbH (URAG) based in Bremen, was promptly dispatched from Esbjerg to assist the incapacitated ship. At the time of the incident, 'Bremen Hunter' was anchored just east of Skagen. The morning of December 25 saw the 'Ems' begin the towing operation, guiding the stricken vessel towards Kiel. By the morning of December 26, 'Bremen Hunter' was securely docked at Voith Quay in the North Port of Kiel, where it was slated for inspection to determine the next steps for repairs and recovery.
