Pangaea Logistics Solutions Ltd. Welcomes Two New Ultramax Ice-Class Carriers
Pangaea Logistics Solutions, Ltd. (PANL) has announced an exciting milestone with the successful delivery of two ultramax ice-class 1C dry bulk carriers, Bulk Destiny and Bulk Endurance, from Oshima Shipyard in Japan. These vessels were initially ordered in 2013 through Pangaea's joint venture interest held with Nordic Bulk Ventures Holding, Ltd. (NBVH). In a strategic move, Pangaea has acquired the remaining 50% stake in NBVH from its joint venture partner, thereby consolidating full ownership of both carriers. Edward Coll, the Chairman and CEO of Pangaea Logistics Solutions Ltd., expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "The arrival of Bulk Destiny and Bulk Endurance marks the completion of our ongoing program to expand our fleet with six ice-class bulk carriers." He further emphasized that the new vessels are already integrated into their operational fleet, enhancing service capacity for their cargo portfolio. With their ice-class designations, these ships significantly strengthen Pangaea’s capabilities, boosting their current ice-class fleet to ten vessels. Coll highlighted Oshima Shipyard's reputation for excellence, noting, "The high quality in design and construction of these ships will undoubtedly add substantial value to our operations for many years to come."
