A Singapore-flagged bulk carrier, the m/v Bulk Finland (IMO No. 9691577), is currently embroiled in a legal dispute in a U.S. court stemming from claims for double payment of bunkers amounting to nearly $1.8 million. The claims, brought forth by ING and OW Bunker against FGL Medlar Singapore Pte Ltd, the vessel's owner, arise from fuel that was procured via OW Bunker and delivered by Bomin Bunker Oil Corp. On October 16, 2014, the 77,126 dwt vessel received this supply while docked in Balboa, Panama. At the time, the ship was managed by OMC Shipping Pte Ltd and chartered by Tatsuo Consulting Limited, based in the British Virgin Islands. This incident sheds light on ongoing complexities in maritime fuel transactions as the industry grapples with the ramifications of bankruptcy and supply chain disputes.
