Robbers Board Container Ship at Tin Can Island Terminal, Lagos

On July 29, 2019, at 3 a.m., the container vessel 'Burgundy' was targeted by three armed robbers while docked at Tin Can Island Terminal in Lagos, Nigeria. The assailants, equipped with metal sticks, approached the ship in a small boat and managed to board the vessel. During the incident, they attacked a duty able seaman who was conducting his routine rounds, stealing his personal belongings before making their escape. Following the alarm raised by the crew, a thorough search was initiated to ensure safety. Although the duty able seaman sustained minor injuries, he underwent a medical evaluation as a precautionary measure. The incident was promptly reported to the Harbour Master for further investigation.
