On April 23, 2020, a crew member aboard the vessel 'Calvao' was successfully medevaced by the Argentine Naval Prefecture after suffering from acute abdominal pain indicative of appendicitis. The dramatic operation took place over 240 kilometers offshore from Argentina. The ship’s captain alerted the Air Station in Comodoro Rivadavia, reporting that the 24-year-old Peruvian national was in severe discomfort. Recognizing the potential seriousness of the condition, authorities dispatched a helicopter equipped with medical personnel to conduct the evacuation. In addition to the helicopter, a support aircraft was also deployed to assist with logistics. The helicopter, upon arrival at the 'Calvao', utilized a sanitary basket to safely hoist the distressed crew member on board. Meanwhile, first aid was administered as they made their swift journey back to shore. Upon reaching the mainland, the patient was immediately taken to a local hospital via ambulance for further medical care.

On the evening of May 9, 2012, a medical emergency prompted a swift airlift of a crewmember from the Portuguese fishing vessel F/V Calvao. Located roughly 445 kilometers southeast of St. John's, the situation required prompt attention, leading the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in Halifax to mobilize resources. A CH-149 Cormorant helicopter from Gander and a CC-130 Hercules aircraft from Greenwood, Nova Scotia, were dispatched in response to the emergency request. The medevac, coordinated at the request of the United States Coast Guard, highlighted the vessel's strategic location relative to Canadian search and rescue operations. The Cormorant successfully transported the affected crew member to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's for urgent medical care.
