In a heartbreaking incident, a crew member aboard the fishing vessel "Cap Saint Georges" passed away following a medical evacuation on February 23, 2017. The emergency call was made at approximately 8 a.m., prompting the Shetland Coastguard to conduct an airlift from the vessel, which was located to the northeast of Unst.
