The Cape-Bonavista: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On the evening of July 6, 2024, at precisely 10:46 PM LT, the captain of the Cape Bonavista mysteriously vanished while navigating the waters off Lubang Island in Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. In response, the Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) initiated a comprehensive search and rescue mission for the missing Ukrainian captain. A key asset in this operation, the BRP Malapascua (MRRV-4403), was dispatched on July 7 by the Coast Guard District National Capital Region, Central Luzon. Equipped with advanced thermal scanning technology, the vessel deployed a meticulous parallel search pattern in efforts to locate the missing individual. Furthermore, the Coast Guard sought additional support from the Philippines Navy's Littoral Monitoring Station. Despite the diligence of the BRP Malapascua in scouring the vicinity over the following days, the search on July 8 yielded no results. The vessel was later required to return to its base for refueling before continuing its vital search efforts.
