A tragic explosion occurred on November 11, 2019, aboard the bulk carrier 'Cape India' while it was navigating off the coast of East Kalimantan, resulting in the untimely death of a Chinese crew member. The incident, which took place at approximately 5 p.m., prompted the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency, Basarnas, to spring into action. The 'Cape India' issued a distress call stating that one man sustained severe injuries from the explosion and required immediate medical attention. In response, Basarnas’ central command swiftly relayed the urgent request to its Balikpapan station in East Kalimantan. Early the next day, on November 12, at 4 a.m., a dedicated joint response team comprising Basarnas personnel, military members, and healthcare providers was mobilized to assist the bulk carrier. The rescue team managed to reach the site around 5:40 a.m., where the victim was transferred onto their rescue launch via a rope. However, during the return trip to Balikpapan, grim assessments revealed that the injured crew member had sadly succumbed to his injuries. Upon their arrival at Semayang Port at 8 a.m., the team promptly transported the deceased, identified as He Fengzhi, a 26-year-old national from China, to a local hospital for further procedures. Meanwhile, the bulk carrier 'Cape India' resumed its journey from Dampier, with a scheduled arrival in Hua Shan set for November 17.

On October 28, 2019, a tragic incident occurred aboard the 'Cape India,' a vessel navigating through the Makassar Strait while sailing from Tang Shan to Port Walcott. A gas explosion resulted in severe injuries to a Chinese crew member, prompting the ship to urgently alert the Indonesian Maritime Authorities for assistance. A medevac was requested and the vessel was directed toward Balikpapan in Eastern Kalimantan. The injured crew member was transferred to a lifeboat on the morning of October 29 at 4 a.m.; however, paramedics pronounced him deceased shortly thereafter. His remains were subsequently transported to a local hospital in Balikpapan for further procedures. Following this unfortunate event, the 'Cape India' departed the Balikpapan vicinity and continued its voyage around midnight.

This announcement marks a significant milestone as these vessels represent the third and fourth additions to U-Ming's fleet from a total order of eight 188,000dwt carriers contracted at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.
