In the early hours of July 2, 2013, the vessel Vladimir encountered an unfortunate incident while navigating the new northern lock in Brunsbüttel. At approximately 06:55, the ship entered the lock from the east at a dangerously high speed, resulting in a collision with the port-side lock wall. The impact caused damage to the brickwork, extending several meters along the structure. Additionally, the hull of Vladimir showed noticeable scraping, and parts of the railing were compromised. Fortunately, as the damage was located above the waterline, the ship was permitted to proceed to Bremerhaven without delay. There were no reported injuries among crew members, and operations at the lock remained unaffected by the mishap.
