Collision between Tugs Off Kodiak Island: A Closer Look
On February 22, 2013, the tugs 'Ocean Wave' and 'Corbin Foss' were involved in a collision while they were maneuvering in a bay near Kodiak Island, ready to tow the damaged Royal Dutch Shell PLC drill rig 'Kulluk'. The incident occurred when the 'Corbin Foss' collided with 'Ocean Wave'. Following the mishap, drug tests were administered to the crew members aboard, although the Coast Guard opted not to respond to this non-injury incident. While adverse weather conditions have caused delays in towing the 'Kulluk' to Dutch Harbor, plans are still intact for transporting the rig to Asia via dry transport after it reaches its interim destination.
