In a significant move within the maritime sector, Germany-based NSC Schifffahrtsgesellschaft has successfully completed the sale of four post-panamax bulk carriers to undisclosed buyers in Europe. The transaction, valued at a total of $41.1 million, was confirmed by industry brokers. The bulk carriers involved in the deal include the 93,000-dwt vessels named Tango Sea, Tonda Sea, and Tana Sea, all constructed in 2011, along with the Tonic Sea, which was built in 2012. In a harrowing incident at Immingham Docks, a dock worker narrowly escaped death after being buried up to his neck in a coal avalanche within a ship's hold. Ian Jennings, a 58-year-old from Grimsby, found himself trapped when a large amount of coal, which had accumulated on the side of the hold, suddenly gave way. His brother, 67-year-old Kenny Jennings, was working alongside him and immediately raised the alarm when he realized Ian was in danger. The coal hold, with a depth estimated at around 90 feet, posed a serious risk, but fortunately, Ian Jennings was rescued in time, highlighting the dangers dock workers face daily.
