On October 31, 2013, authorities made a significant drug bust at the bustling port of Zeebrugge, apprehending 67 kilograms of cocaine that had arrived from Brazil on the cargo ship 'Carlos Fischer.' The vessel, which had reached the port on October 30, was transporting juice from Santos intended for the renowned Tropicana company in Belgium. Although the 'Carlos Fischer' was originally scheduled to continue its journey to Ghent, law enforcement intervened as it docked. A collaborative effort by agents from the federal judicial police, maritime police, and customs officials facilitated an extensive search of the ship, utilizing specially trained drug detection dogs. The cocaine was cleverly concealed in individual crew cabins and within the ship's bow. During the operation, three Chilean nationals were apprehended after the illicit substances were discovered in their personal quarters. Following interrogation, they were released later that same night.
