On January 1, 2019, the MV Palmerton experienced a critical engine failure while anchored in deep water off Heligoland, leading to a precarious situation as the vessel began to drag its anchor amid severe storm conditions. The ship was making its way from Hamburg to Palmerton at the time of the incident. In response, a swift action was taken by the German marine casualty command, which deployed a boarding team via a helicopter from the Federal German Police to assess the situation. The emergency tug Nordic was appointed as the On-Scene Coordinator, ready to assist in the coordination of rescue efforts. Thankfully, by the early afternoon of January 2, the Palmerton regained its engine power and was able to resume its journey to Palmerton. The German Central Command for Maritime Emergencies concluded its operations at 10 a.m. After a turbulent journey, the MV Palmerton safely docked at Palmerton at 4:15 p.m. on January 3. Later that evening, at 9:35 p.m., the ship set sail once more, this time bound for Port Said, with an estimated time of arrival on January 12.

A tragic incident occurred aboard the cargo ship 'Palmerton' near Zeebrugge on November 22, 2023, resulting in the death of a crew member. The accident unfolded at approximately 2:35 p.m. during a maintenance operation involving the vessel's rescue boats, when one of the boats unexpectedly detached. In the chaos, one crew member was thrown overboard, while another crashed hard onto the deck, sustaining grave injuries. The injured individual, who was airlifted to a hospital in Bruges, ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The two crew members involved in the accident were both from Ukraine. Following the incident, the 'Palmerton,' which was en route to France at the time, returned to Zeebrugge by 8 p.m. and has since remained docked at the local container terminal.

A distressing incident occurred on November 22, 2016, at approximately 2:30 PM, when two crew members from the vessel 'Palmerton' fell overboard, approximately eight kilometers off the coast of Zeebrugge. The crew was participating in a drill when the accident took place. Emergency services sprang into action, promptly notifying a helicopter, which quickly arrived on the scene. One of the men was successfully airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical attention. However, the other crew member was lost at sea and was not located immediately after the incident. The search operation heightened at buoy S8, involving an NH90 helicopter along with a police boat and a lifeboat dedicated to the Search and Rescue (SAR) mission. At the time of the search, the water temperature was reported to be about 12 degrees Celsius. Unfortunately, the search was called off by 6:45 PM without any sign of the missing crew member. The 'Palmerton' subsequently made its way back to Zeebrugge.
