Working Conditions Aboard the Caspian-Challenger

Topaz Energy and Marine, a prominent name in the offshore support vessel sector, has recently completed the acquisition of two state-of-the-art Anchor Handling Towage and Supply Vessels (AHTSV) for over US$ 100 million. In a press release issued by the company, they revealed the names of the newly acquired vessels: the Caspian Challenger and the Caspian Endeavour. These vessels, constructed at Kleven Maritime in Norway, were launched in 2008 and 2009 respectively, showcasing advanced marine engineering. Both vessels are outfitted with cutting-edge dynamic positioning (DP2) systems and automated anchor handling capabilities, making them among the most powerful vessels in the Caspian Sea, with an impressive power output of 17,200 BHP and a bollard pull of 190 tonnes. Their robust capabilities enable them to undertake deep-water tasks across Topaz's global operations. Previously, the Caspian Challenger and Caspian Endeavour have been integrated into Topaz’s Caspian fleet under a bareboat charter agreement. They are currently engaged in a long-term contract supporting BP's operations in Azerbaijan, particularly in the offshore fields of ACG and Shah Deniz. Their roles include specialty project work, significant rig relocations, anchor repositioning, and essential logistical support, demonstrating their versatility and operational readiness in challenging marine environments.
