Working Conditions Aboard the Catalina

On the morning of May 7, 2016, the bulk carrier 'Catalina' was involved in a collision with the fishing vessel 'Lu Rong Yu 58398' (MMSI: 412330653) while navigating the East China Sea, near Ningbo. The 'Lu Rong Yu 58398' capsized in the incident, resulting in a tragic situation where two crew members were rescued, while 17 others went missing. In response, a comprehensive search and rescue (SAR) operation was promptly initiated. Initially, the 'Catalina,' which carries a crew of 20, absconded from the scene but was later located and directed to Hangzhou Bay by Chinese authorities to facilitate an investigation into the collision.
