Rolls-Royce has been awarded a groundbreaking project by the Brazilian shipping firm CBO, aiming to enhance an existing offshore platform supply vessel (PSV) with an innovative dual draglink (DDC) subsea crane. This installation marks a significant milestone as it will be the world's first subsea crane capable of utilizing both fibre and steel wire ropes, the company announced in a recent press release. The hybrid DDC subsea crane is set to be installed on the CBO Manoella, which is currently undergoing a transformation from a PSV to a ROV Support Vessel (RSV). Built to withstand the demanding conditions of the offshore environment, this active heave compensated crane emphasizes both operational efficiency and safe load handling, proving essential for ongoing maritime operations.
