On May 13, 2020, three stowaways were apprehended by the crew of the CMA CGM Fort Saint Charles approximately 8.5 miles north-northwest of Margate, specifically at the Tongue anchorage. The individuals reached out to Kent Police using emergency services, reporting that they were trapped inside a shipping container aboard the vessel. Authorities quickly launched an investigation and confirmed the stowaways' presence on the CMA CGM Fort Saint Charles. Following the incident, both French and Belgian officials were notified. Once the ship docked at Coryton, one of the stowaways required medical assistance and was subsequently disembarked. After addressing the situation, the CMA CGM Fort Saint Charles departed for Zeebrugge at 11:40 p.m.
