Pirate Attacks in Douala: 17 Crew Members Taken Hostage on Two Ships

Hours later, in the morning, another attack occurred involving the cargo m/v 'Marmalita', which encountered pirates while anchored in the Wouri River at the same location. This second assault resulted in the kidnapping of eight crew members, including three Russians. The 'Marmalita' had arrived at the anchorage on August 13. The string of attacks highlights the increasing security threats facing shipping operations in this region.

CMB SA Offloads Trio of Handysize Vessels in Strategic Package Deal

CMB SA has successfully completed the sale of three Handysize bulk carriers as part of a single package transaction. The vessels include the "Cmb Giulia," built in 2012 at Zhejiang Jingang, China, which underwent dry docking in May 2020. Additionally, the sale features the "Cmb Adrien" and "Cmb Catrine," both constructed in Jiangsu Zhenjiang, China, in 2011 and 2012 respectively. The "Cmb Adrien" had a dry dock inspection in January 2021, while the "Cmb Catrine" was last docked in March 2020. The entire fleet was acquired by Greek buyers for a total of USD 27 million, emphasizing a strong market interest in quality Handysize vessels.
