The VLCC Long Hu San encountered a distress situation on August 2, approximately 60 nautical miles east of the Yangtze estuary in the East China Sea, while undergoing sea trials. The vessel signaled for help, prompting a swift response from two rescue ships, East China Sea Rescue 101 and East China Sea Rescue 111. The towing operation to transport the vessel to Shanghai Changxing Shipyard was challenged by adverse weather conditions, including strong winds, plus depth restrictions and numerous fishing nets in the area due to the supertanker being in ballast. Ultimately, the Long Hu San was successfully docked at the shipyard in the evening hours of August 4.
