FWN Ruby Faces Engine Challenges Near Gran Canaria

On January 25, 2018, the cargo vessel FWN Ruby encountered engine issues while navigating from Antwerp to Ambriz. The incident occurred approximately 5.6 miles northeast of La Isleta, Gran Canaria, prompting the crew of seven onboard to request emergency assistance. In response, Salvamento Maritimo quickly deployed their search and rescue vessel, Miguel de Cervantes, which successfully towed the FWN Ruby to safety. The ship arrived at the port of Las Palmas, where it was assisted by port tugs and docked at 1:30 p.m. Following necessary repairs, the FWN Ruby resumed its journey on January 26 at 12:50 a.m. and is now expected to reach Angola on February 7. Urgent Medevac of Sailor Near Brest: Flinter Ruby Incident

In the early hours of April 23, 2014, the Coast Rescue Operations Center (CROSS) Corsen received an urgent alert from the Dutch Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) and the maritime medical consultation center in Toulouse regarding a medical emergency aboard the cargo vessel Flinter Ruby. The situation unfolded approximately 105 nautical miles off the coast of Brest, where a 30-year-old Russian sailor was suffering from severe vomiting and required immediate evacuation. In response to this distress signal, CROSS Corsen deployed a Cayman helicopter from the Naval Air Station in Lanvéoc - Poulmic, which successfully reached the distressed vessel at 1:35 p.m. After hoisting the patient aboard, the helicopter transported him to Cavale Blanche Hospital in Brest, where he arrived at 2:40 p.m., ensuring he received the vital medical attention he needed.
