On December 28, 2019, the freighter 'Birthe Bres' encountered mechanical issues while navigating the waters approximately 22 miles south-southeast of Start Point. The vessel, which was en route from Karlstad to Casablanca with a crew of seven on board, needed to replace spark plugs in its main engine at coordinates 49°52'05 N, 003°27'01 W. Carrying a substantial cargo of 2,480 tonnes of timber in packet and paper reels, the freighter's crew estimated that the necessary repairs would take between one to two hours. After successfully completing the maintenance work, 'Birthe Bres' resumed its journey at 10:25 a.m., with an anticipated arrival time in Casablanca set for January 2, 2020.
