On the evening of January 20, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m., the fishing vessel Centurión del Atlántico experienced an allision with a concrete dock at the Port of Ushuaia. The vessel, carrying over 90 crew members, approached the quay at a high speed, resulting in a collision on its starboard side. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries and the infrastructure sustained no significant damage. In response to the incident, the Argentine Naval Prefecture and the Provincial Port Directorate promptly initiated investigations to determine the causes of the mishap. Officials from the Dirección Provincial de Puertos confirmed that the dock continues to operate normally and that this incident did not disrupt regular port activities. Efforts are ongoing to maintain safety and ensure the smooth operation of operations at Ushuaia's port.
