A fire broke out aboard the Russian trawler "Admiral Shabalin" on October 26, 2015, at 9:58 PM while it was docked at Muelle Grande in Las Palmas. Firefighting crews arrived at the scene just seven minutes later, promptly evacuating the crew. The blaze originated in the fish processing workshop and cargo hold area, necessitating additional support from the Salvamento Maritimo vessel "Miguel de Cervantes" to successfully extinguish the flames. Prior to the incident, the trawler had arrived in Las Palmas on October 24 for routine maintenance scheduled to begin on October 27, alongside a crew change and resupply activities.
